Chapter V. Final provisions.
Article 25
Agreements may be entered into with other states on the obligation to extradite and on other assistance in criminal matters with certain conditions which, however, may not contravene the provisions of this Act.
Notwithstanding this Act, extradition and requests for assistance in criminal matters may take place to the extent that Iceland is obliged to do according to agreements concluded before the entry into force of this Act with other states.
Extradition and other assistance in criminal matters is permitted under this Act, although it is not obligatory according to an agreement that Iceland has made in this regard with the state in question.
''Article 1 Scope''
If the International Criminal Court requests, in accordance with the Court's Convention of 17 July 1998 (Rome Convention), that actions be taken in Iceland for the investigation or handling of a case, such requests shall be dealt with in accordance with the provisions of this Act. The same applies to requests from the Court for the enforcement of judgments.
Request for actions according to Paragraph 1 shall be sent [Minister] 1) which otherwise communicates with the court on behalf of the Icelandic state.
States Parties shall, in accordance with the provisions of this Statute, cooperate fully with the Court in its investigation and prosecution of crimes within the jurisdiction of the Court.
