Chapter 9:20 Genocide Act

4 Genocide

Any person who, on or after the date of commencement of this Act, with the intention of destroying, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group—
(a) kills members of the group; or
(b) causes serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group; or
(c) deliberately inflicts on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part; or
(d) imposes measures intended to prevent births within the group; or
(e) forcibly transfers children of the group to another group;
shall be guilty of an offence and liable—
(i) where the offence involves the killing of a person, to the same penalty that may be imposed by law for murder;
(ii) in any other case, to imprisonment for life.

Article 5 Crimes within the jurisdiction of the Court

1. The jurisdiction of the Court shall be limited to the most serious crimes of concern to the international community as a whole. The Court has jurisdiction in accordance with this Statute with respect to the following crimes:

(a) The crime of genocide;
